New Member Information
New to OSCA?
Welcome! The OSCA Brochure and the Owner's Manual below contain extensive information about what you will need to know as a new member of OSCA.
Current Oberlin students can become a member by filling out an OSCA Upperclass Lottery Form in the spring, listing all their co-op preferences (as well as checking off OSCA as a preference on the Residential Education housing and dining forms). Each student is assigned a random lottery number, so everyone has an equal chance of getting into a co-op, regardless of seniority. If you do not get into OSCA from the lottery, or decide to join OSCA later in the year, you join OSCA by getting on the current-year wait list;
If you have a question about being a new OSCAn that is not addressed on our website, you are more than welcome to contact us. We are excited to have you!
New to Oberlin?
Every year 100 spaces are reserved for incoming Oberlin students. The first-year lottery is conducted during the summer. New students receive email asking them to join OSCA by entering the New Student Lottery. Like the Upperclass Lottery, students new to Oberlin receive a random lottery number so everyone entering has an equal chance of joining OSCA.
After the New Student Lottery, students new to Oberlin may still join OSCA if they did not get into their first-choice co-op during the New Student Lottery or if they apply anytime after the deadline by signing up on the current-year wait list and filling out a New Student Application below.
We're excited to be a part of your first-year experience!
